Politics dominates the news channels and social media these days. This is nothing new. The number of books written about politics and politicians easily reaches into the millions, stretching from Aristotle’s Politics to the more than 4,500 books written about Donald Trump. These two posts won’t add to that pile. They are intended to give you an interesting perspective on politics and political systems that you may not have considered before. They briefly explore why political systems don’t work, and offer something that works better.
Political Systems and Why They Fail
Politics and the political systems in which they take place shape society from the top down. When most people think about improving society, they assume that the system is wrong or that the wrong people are in power. They vote—or revolt—for different politicians who will implement better policies. The solution is always to replace one political system or ruler with another.
Volitional science rejects this approach, not as a matter of preference, but as a logical conclusion drawn from history.
